Pinocchio’s in Pasadena for a great evening of jazz standards, swing, and blues!

It’s a Saturday deal that can’t be beat: wonderful music, no cover charge, tasty Italian food, and all ages are welcome.  Come for dinner or hang out at the bar — we just want to see you there!  You can drop in or you can call them at (626) 791-7591 and make a reservation.

Pinocchio’s is at:

Ferrara on drums.

I sure hope to see you there!

Last Friday at the Pasadena Jazz Institute

It was wonderful to have so many friends and fans come out to the PJI last week for our “3rd of July Jazz Party!”  Jon Prentice got this great shot of Bill Watrous playing with us….

Friday, July 3: Pasadena Jazz Institute debut!

The Conspirators and I are making our Pasadena Jazz Institute debut
THIS FRIDAY and we’ll feature a very special guest, Bill Watrous, on
trombone!  A strong showing from our local fans would sure make for a
great night and help us get invited back, so we’d especially love to
see you at this show!

The lineup for the night is phenomenal — in addition to us, you’ll see Steve Snyder, Kristin Korb, the San Gabriel 7, Nick Mancini, featuring Eric Marienthal, Bill Watrous, Katie Campbell, Dale Boatman, and Jennifer Hart! The PJI has a full menu and a full bar, so you can make a whole evening of it (but don’t forget your ID, or you’ll be stuck with a Shirley Temple) — the music won’t stop until well after midnight.

Who: KJ and the Conspirators (and 4 other GREAT bands!)
What: 3rd of July Jazz Party
When: 6-7PM Friday, July 3 (the other bands will continue on past midnight)
Where: Pasadena Jazz Institute
260 E. Colorado Blvd., Ste. 206, Pasadena, CA

(You can also take your chances and buy a ticket when you get there.)  Either way, please tell the person working will call/admission that you’re there to see KJ Williams and the Conspirators — they’re keeping track of who fills the seats, and we
really want to do this again!

I can’t wait to see you there!

Save the date: July 3 at the Pasadena Jazz Institute!

The Conspirators and I have been keeping busy!  Our concert in Dana Point was a blast and I hope to post some recordings from that event in the next few days.

In other news, I’m over the moon about our next gig: we’ll be making our Pasadena Jazz Institute debut on Friday, July 3 at 6PM!  The lineup for the night is amazing — check out the poster! (I’ll post more about advance tickets later this week.)

Caltech's Quintette + KJ Williams

Bill Bing sent this great snapshot from Monday’s Raymond Scott tribute concert.  What an unforgettable night!

Les Deutsch and Bill Bing have put together what promises to be an unforgettable Raymond Scott tribute concert — news has even made it over to the Raymond Scott Blog!

I’m honored to be singing several of Les’ arrangements with a brilliant group of musicians: Les at the piano, Lynne Snyder on clarinet, John Brugman on trumpet, Kevin Chen on bass, plus two of my Conspirators, Jim Van Deventer on tenor sax and clarinet, and Mike Ferrara on drums! Save the date and I’ll see you there! The concert is free; no tickets are required!

Bandorama

I’m excited to be a guest vocalist at Caltech’s Bandorama again this year!  This concert is a great opportunity to hear the Caltech-Occidental Concert Band and both of the Caltech Jazz Bands.

The show is Saturday, May 9 at 8PM.  The concert is in Ramo Auditorium, Building 77 on the maps here:
http://www.caltech.edu/map/. No tickets are required.  And if you just can’t get enough of the bands, they’re playing Friday night, 5/8, at 8PM, as well, with a slightly different set list.

As always, you can keep up with my shenanigans right here!
There’s lots coming up — a special Raymond Scott concert (5/18), an evening of jazz at Pinocchio’s (5/23), and a full concert with the Conspirators in Dana Point (6/6)!

Check out the Chamber Singers concert this Saturday

If you’re looking for some great choral and solo vocal music this
weekend, be sure to check out the Caltech Chamber Singers this
Saturday!  We’ll be performing many of our favorites, featuring works
by Lassus, Morley, and Salieri, and several of us will also perform
solo pieces.  The concert is at 7:30pm this Saturday, 4/25 in Dabney
Hall, building 40 on these maps: http://www.caltech.edu/map/. No
tickets are required.

I hope to see you there!
